The Onibubu attacking Syrus.
Role in The Story[]
The Onibubu are locust-like demons that attack Syrus Village during the Eve of The Festival of Elrihm (during Act 2, Chapter 2). They spread some spores/powder onto the village and curse the villagers to fall into a deep slumber, which they cannot awake from.
Although most villagers presume the Onibubu 'broke through' the Divine Barrier, Garai instead predicts that this has been the act of humans. When the Onibubu began attacking, Garai summoned a Divine Barrier of Containment to protect the village - notably all the characters who direct the story.
Relation to Gehena Pale[]
It is mentioned by several characters that the ancient empire of Gehena Pale was destroyed by the Onibubu, which is why they are referred to as the Locusts of Apocalypse. It is felt that the Onibubu are a manifestation of the wrath of Elrihm, and that their coming could be a sign of the impending Day of Judgment.

Additional Trivia[]
- During the meeting between Grotta, Jibara and Garai following the Onibubu attack, Garai begins to say "The souls of those fallen to sleep wander the dream world… To retrieve their souls and return them to their bodies we must-" which suggests that Garai has another solution at hand before Jibara interjects with suggestions of the Calabas.
